Get Ready For Support

One of the things that people dont set up right near the start of their online businesses is a proper support desk. I neglected this myself as well. It is somehow not *sexy* I guess.

Thing is, until you are selling products, you are unlikely to get support requests so most marketers only think about it when they are starting to get e-mails and find it difficult to keep on top of them. Then they often just install an open source product in a rush and try to figure it out (not always easy).

A good support desk does more than allow you to keep yourself organised…it allows you to bring in support staff when needed and, for your customers, it shows that you take product support seriously and gives you a professional appearance.

My advice would be to set up a sub-domain called “support” and a dedicated support@ email address right at the very start. Get to know your way around a support desk system before you actually need it. It will be one less thing that you do in a “panic” without being able to choose your system properly and get to know it when you really need it.

I am testing out a new support desk system right now which is very easy to use and free but also has advanced (paid) options for businesses when they grow. So far, it looks very impressive. When I have finished testing, I will make a post here about it. So watch out for that.

Get Photoshop for Free

Just wanted to give a heads up to readers of this blog that Adobe is letting everyone grab the older versions of it’s superb Creative Suite of products absolutely free.

The ‘jewel in the crown’ of course is Photoshop.

if you want to use this but can’t justify the hefty price tag, then this is ideal for you. OK, its old (CS2 and we are on, what now…CS6?) but unless you have a graphics design business that will not matter. It is fully functional and ideal if you want to make graphics for sales pages, for your pdfs, banners, buttons or whatever.

My New Products – Now Available!

I made a couple of new software products in December. Both were for my own use but I have decided to make them available to everyone.

Magic Kindle Formatter

As I detailed on my last blog post, this first product is FREE. It is a software product that automatically formats your ebook for uploading to Kindle.

This is something I plan do do more of in 2013. We all have reports and short ebooks so why not sell them as kindle books too? Also, my wife keeps threatening to write a novel….one day.

The software auto makes a title page, a copyright page, a clickable index and a thankyou/about the author page at the back of the book. it supports up to 12 chapters. It is so simple to use…just copy/paste your details and content and click finish and it’s done.

Tube Optimizer Wizard

This is a really cool product which helps you rocket your You Tube videos on to page 1 of Google

Videos are far easier to rank and draw a lot of clicks when people see them on a search. Review videos can convert very well with high clickthroughs.

I made this to save me time when I am uploading videos to You Tube so it is optimized for my chosen keyword. Also, it is an amazing product to give to a VA to use as it creates perfect results every time with no training needed.

Co-reg: Stay Clear!

A while ago I was researching with a business partner the concept know as ‘Co-Registration’. Put simply, this is where you sign up for something and get automatically added to more than one list.

This type of practice is done for a number of reasons.

Let’s say two or three people re collaborating on a project…it may be a product that they have developed together or a giveaway event they are working together in hosting. Then this would seem to be a natural thing to do as the leads equally belong to all of the parties in the business equation.

Another reason would be to host a giveaway event with just one squueze page on the front end and then, once subscribed (to each contributors lists) the subscriber can download all of the gifts without opting in each time. Again sound logical and (given adequate disclosure before subscribing) ethical.

NOT SO!

Both of these scenarios are directly against the TOS of all of the autoresponder services and, should receive a complaint, they will close your account and wave you goodbye.

Now, my experience with this is quite telling, both about the legality of co-registration and the types of people that trawl around the net.

We did not launch a co-reg event. We did ask for potential contributors to sign up with us with the idea of testing it out as we had seen others running similar types of events for some time. These contributors were added to both of our lists.

One marketer contacted me and basically read me the riot act. He called the concept of co-registration “illegal and unethical, cruel and shameless‘ and told me he would report me to my autoresponder company.

Sure enough, a couple of weeks later my account with that company was closed down without warning.

So that tells you something about co-registration. Don’t do it!

But this tells you more about the kind of low-lifes that you often find in the solo ad/email marketing world.

The other day I registered with a clean, ‘virgin’ email address to an event being run by that same marketer. What a surprise it was to see that I was added to his list and someone else’s list from the same sign-up form. I received spam mails about downloads I had not requested almost immediately. Hypocrisy on a grand scale.

So, be careful out there. Stay clear of any co-registration and watch out for people who will stride around being a ‘unelected internet policemen’ but are doing exactly what they are reporting people for themselves.

My New Look!

Well, I have had some time away from posting on here and I apologise for that. My IM business has been taking me down one or two different roads and I have been maxed out a bit.

In the last month or two I have built new lists of around 1500 subscribers, formed an alliance with another marketr and we are forging ahead with some joint ventures.

I have also completely overhauled a WSO I brought out in the spring and will re-launch version 2.0 this week (29th November).

I am hosting live webinars over the coming weeks too and hope to keep everyone updated here.

As you can see, I revamped the place a bit. Not sure if I 100% like the new design. I may tweak a little more…let;s see. Your feedback is welcome!

With that update, I will get back to work and expect me to post again in here more often!
